Following Gemma’s previous books, Aqua and Let’s Talk Lymphoedema: The Essential Guide to Everything You Need to Know, which shed light on the debilitating condition Lymphoedema, Covid Thoughts aims to raise broader awareness of the lymphatic system, specifically in relation to Covid-19.

As well as raising funds for Lymphoedema research, Covid Thoughts is a compelling collection of the real accounts of people from across a diverse range of backgrounds offering a humbling and insightful glimpse into their Covid journeys.

Commenting on Covid Thoughts Dame Judi Dench said:

“Within the gem of this book, pillars of our society from a wide spectrum have been invited to share their Covid thoughts. They have given generously of their time to voice their views during this debilitating time in our lives.

“We must learn from this and start to live in harmony with nature and all the creatures with whom we share the planet.”

Discussing the connection between Covid-19 and the Lymphatic system, Professor Peter Mortimer commented:

“For the vaccine to work against Covid a functional lymphatic system is essential. The lymphatic system, and its lymph glands, houses much of our immune system.

“Lymph is the fluid which carries immune cells to our lymph glands, and the lymph glands is where all acquired immunity against infections and vaccinations occurs. Hence, without a working lymph system we would not succeed in overcoming infections, such as Covid-19.”

In addition, William Repicci, President & CEO, Lymphatic Education & Research Network commented:

“Whereas most of us seek solace when faced with adversity, Gemma Levine envisions an opportunity to heal through insight, compassion and humour.

“The world, including those living with lymphatic diseases such as lymphoedema, finds their humanity, commonality, and hence hope in her vivid Covid Thoughts.”
