A Huge Thank you to PhysioPod from Janice and Kevin

We would both like to share our experiences of using PhysioPod’s ‘Deep Oscillation’ treatment and therapy. It has significantly contributed to our recovery from both trauma and surgery. We would especially like to say a big thank you to Julie and Mary from PhysioPod for providing us with their knowledge and expertise in using this equipment and the difference it has made to us both. With this, we are truly grateful.

X-ray Olecranon fracture and post operation fix screws

Let me explain. I had an accident in February 2024, where I slipped on three mossy steps. As a result of my trauma, I had an ORIF olecranon fracture. I broke my right elbow very badly and in several pieces; in other words, I was told by my very good, one of the best consultants who fixed it, ‘You did a right proper job’ and 'It will never be straight’. Afterwards, I underwent surgery to realign the bones, resulting in a pinned, screwed, and plated structure. Unfortunately, due to my injury, I could not straighten my elbow. I had to put in a significant amount of effort to improve my range of motion and movement, wrist pronation, extension and supination, passive flexion, and elbow extension—all the simple tasks that a right-handed person would take for granted, such as reaching up to grab something from a cupboard, eating with a fork and drinking from a cup or glass, or plaiting or brushing my hair.

Julie very kindly and immediately, without any hesitation, sent me her own unit (we have been friends since our teenage years) up to Scotland to use to help with the healing, bruising, swelling process, and subsequently lots of physio exercises that continue to this day. No pain, no gain.

I had to work hard on my passive elbow flexion and extension, straightening and strengthening not only my elbow but my wrist, shoulder, pecs, and neck. It was crucial to use deep oscillation therapy to massage the upper biceps muscle, which had become extremely muscle-wasted and tight due to the surgery. In June 2023, I underwent treatment for breast cancer, which involved the removal of 3 lymph nodes and a tumour from my right side, followed by radiotherapy.

Regular use of the treatment has significantly reduced the stiffness, bruising, pain, and lack of mobility in my arm and elbow, as well as the tightness in my shoulder, allowing it to move and function with greater flexibility. As I write this, my elbow's range of motion has improved from a 90-degree angle to a 155-degree angle. Therefore, my elbow's range of motion is improving; it's not yet fully flexed, but without the Deep Oscillation treatment, I wouldn't be where I am today.

I remain positive, and I keep working at it.

X-ray image of knee joint replacement

Kevin had a much-needed total knee replacement in April 2024, four months earlier than expected, and who knew! He used the deep oscillation treatment to prepare the tissue prior to going into the hospital. The operation proved to be highly successful, and a day after the procedure, he immediately applied the deep oscillation treatment to alleviate the bruising and stimulate the muscles, tissues, and other tissues surrounding the knee. After his surgery, his consultant informed him, 'You definitely needed a new knee.'

After a further 6 weeks of regular PhysioPod treatment, Kevin saw an orthopaedic consultant for a follow-up. The orthopaedic consultant was equally surprised and pleased with the outcome and results of Kevin's new knee. Before Kevin had surgery, he could barely walk and was in excruciating pain. The PhysioPod Deep Oscillation Treatment really works, as it quickly aided his recovery.

We both continue to use it. I just need to work on my right knee now!

Very best wishes Janice & Kevin
