m technique

The ‘M’ technique® is a series of stroking movements performed in a set sequence at a set pressure and set pace. It is different from conventional massage and may be suitable when massage is inappropriate.  Each movement, identified with a mnemonic name, is repeated three times. The ‘M’ technique® was created by Dr Jane Buckle who was a critical care nurse. The ‘M’ technique® has been described as ‘physical hypnotherapy’ and is profoundly relaxing for both giver and receiver.

About Susan  M Fishwick

Certified Lymphoedema Therapist - Complementary Health Practitioner MLDUK UKReg, MFHT, CNHC Reg

"It’s hard to imagine that by 2020 I will have worked in healthcare for 25 years.

During the last 10 years my clinical and complementary therapy practice has grown primarily through word-of-mouth.

Very many thanks for the numerous testimonials submitted. They are (with your consent) regularly published on the website.

I began training in complementary therapy in Exeter in the 1990s, studying at college in the evenings while working full time. Then I embraced long distance learning whilst living on a remote island off the west coast of Scotland for three years before returning to Devon where I continued training in complementary therapies through reputable Colleges and establishments in Exeter, London, Bath, Oxford and Brighton.

Now, continuous professional development CPD is an integral part of my practice. Keeping abreast of important developments in research and treatment techniques requires a big commitment particularly wearing two hats (complementary and clinical).

The clinical interest evolved during my ten years at the FORCE Cancer Support & Information Centre in Exeter. I was particularly interested in the effects of Lymphoedema and its treatment. This led to my training at the world -renowned Föeldi Clinic in Germany where I qualified as a Certified Lymphoedema Therapist (CLT).

The demand for this specialist service has led my practice to become more clinically based; seeing more pre and post-operative patients in order to provide one to one support for patients managing complex conditions including primary and secondary Lymphoedema, Lipoedema among others.

Outside work, I love being outdoors. A perfect day might involve an early morning swim, beach combing, pottering on the River Exe with my husband and spending time with family and friends."
