Sarah Barron is a Wexford based specialist in Lymphoedema management. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse at St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin. Her nursing career includes extensive work in some of Sydney’s largest hospitals in Australia, where she also continued her studies and qualified as an Orthopaedic and emergency care nurse. Sarah also works as a GP Practice Nurse.
Throughout her nursing career, Sarah encountered many clients struggling with Lymphoedema and its psychological effects. This experience inspired her to study lymphoedema and Manual Lymphatic Drainage in the UK at the prestigious Lymphoedema Training Academy with Jane Wigg. Prior to qualifying as a Lymphoedema Nurse and Manual Lymphatic Therapist in the UK, Sarah studied Reflexology in 2007. Sarah has found that combining Reflexology and Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage has proven to be very successful in reducing limb swelling and pain.
Sarah works from her clinic in Templeudigan, located between New Ross and Enniscorthy. She advises people on the positive outcomes of treating Lymphoedema. Lymphoedema is a chronic swelling most commonly affecting the limbs, though it can affect any body area. Lymphoedema can be primary or secondary. Primary Lymphoedema can be genetic or hereditary. Secondary is more common and can be as a result of surgery, cancer, radiotherapy therapy, obesity or complicated fractures, etc. While there is no cure for Lymphoedema, controlling the main symptoms and complications is possible. Lymphoedema is progressive if not treated and can lead to increased pain, cellulitis, hospitalisation, reduced mobility, and a reduced quality of life, potentially causing people to give up work.
Sarah is also a qualified aesthetics nurse and is certified to provide the following treatments: red light therapy, Reflexology, polynucleotides, and skin boosters.
In 2025, Sarah completed training in DEEP OSCILLATION® with PhysioPod UK and is delighted to now be offering this therapy to her clients for Lymphoedema, pre- and post-surgery and in non-invasive aesthetics.
