Biophysically Supportive, Gentle, and Non-Invasive Electrostatic Care

A gentle, non-invasive pulsed electrostatic field therapy that may support the body's natural tissue healing processes, local fluid dynamics, and tissue comfort. Biophysical responses and tissue interactions have been reported at depths of up to approximately 8 cm under specific conditions (as observed via diagnostic ultrasound).

Mechanism of Action & Tissue Interaction

Grounded in the biophysical phenomenon of the Johnsen-Rahbek effect, this modality generates a low-intensity pulsed electrostatic field between the therapist’s vinyl-gloved hands (or applicator) and the patient’s skin. Rather than relying on external friction or heavy mechanical load, it operates through controlled rhythmic cycles of electrostatic attraction and release. This safely induces endogenous microdeformations within the tissue microenvironment itself—acting from the inside out.

Tissue Depth & Microenvironment Reach

These gentle, deep-acting oscillations permeate multiple tissue planes without requiring heavy mechanical load. Under appropriate clinical conditions, electrostatic interactions comfortably reach through the epidermis and dermis, subcutaneous adipose tissue, connective tissue (fascia), deep muscle planes, and lymphatic structures.

Early Clinical Application & Tissue Safety

Because the therapy induces internal tissue movement without requiring significant downward physical pressure, it is exceptionally gentle on hyper-sensitive, acute, or recovering tissues. Following individualised clinical assessment—and with medical or surgical authorisation where appropriate—it can be integrated into early post-operative recovery pathways or utilised to support tissue pliability, local fluid dynamics, and comfort in chronic swelling conditions.

Administration & Delivery

Treatment is delivered comfortably to the patient without mechanical force using hygienic vinyl gloves—applying smooth, light massage movements—or utilises a handheld applicator in gentle circular motions over the target tissue to facilitate the electrostatic attraction and release phenomena.

Paul is a qualified Sports Massage Therapist and Dr Vodder Level 3 Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) & Decongestive Lymphatic Therapy Practitioner based at Tidal Clinic in Portrush. Guided by the philosophy of "a practitioner who treats people, not parts", he tailors every session to an individual's unique needs and recovery goals rather than following a fixed routine.

His practice combines deep tissue and sports massage with advanced lymphatic care, specialising in Dr Vodder MLD, Deep Oscillation® Therapy, and post-operative recovery for cosmetic, lipoedema, and orthopaedic procedures.
