Personal Profile
My name is Lorna, and I am a Vodder-trained level 3 therapist with a BSc in Midwifery. I offer Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Combined Decongestive Therapy (CDT), and Deep Oscillation Therapy (DOT). I worked as a midwife for about 10 years before leaving to have four children of my own. During this time, I have enjoyed running a microbusiness, creating linen-based homeware in and around caring for my children. It was a little over 2 years ago that my father approached me to ask if I would consider returning to the world of health care and retraining to become an MLD therapist to support my mother, who has bilateral lymphoedema. I said yes!
MLD is best known for its role in treating Lymphoedema and lipoedema, but it can also be used to support healing after surgery, improve scarring and skin conditions, relieve sinusitis and fibromyalgia, relieve pregnancy-related oedema, and improve overall health and well-being. Combining Deep Oscillation Therapy with the techniques of MLD enhances the treatment further as the fluid within the connective tissue is enabled to flow more freely whilst carrying a greater proportion of debris and toxins, which can then be removed from the lymph fluid as it passes through the lymph nodes. This results in enhanced reduction of swelling, reduced healing times, improved breakdown of fibrosis, and well-managed pain. I’m excited to be in a position to share these therapies, which are known to help promote the natural function of the lymphatic system and make such a tangible difference to those experiencing symptoms.
