Treatments Offered

DEEP OSCILLATION® THERAPY (DOT)

DOT creates biologically effective oscillations in the treated tissue using electrostatic attraction and friction. In contrast to manual therapies, the pleasant oscillations have a gentle but deep acting effect on all tissue components to a depth of 8 cm, through skin, connective tissue, fat, muscle, blood, and lymph vessels. Attracting and releasing the tissue layers from between 5 and 250 times a second.

Due to its non-invasive, non-traumatic gentle nature of this therapy, it is possible to use DOT very soon after injury, and from ‘day one’ post operative chronic conditions, with very effective results.

Although very gentle, DOT is a very powerful treatment and is especially useful for extreme, acute or chronic pain where other forms of manual therapy cannot be tolerated.

REFLEXOLOGY

Natural, gentle, and non-invasive, reflexology is ideal for all age groups and is rapidly developing into one of the major naturopathic therapies.
Stimulation through gentle pressure and flowing movements from the therapist to the tiny reflex points in the feet will encourage the immune and lymphatic system to detoxify the body and restore the body’s natural balance.
This effective way of assisting the body to heal itself is enhanced through the deep relaxation felt as the treatment restores both mental and physical well-being.

STRUCTURAL REFLEXOLOGY

This is a massage and mobilisation of the foot and lower leg given prior to the main reflexology session. It gently releases tension in the muscles and ligaments in the feet and allows the bones to settle back into their natural positions resulting in improved functionality.

REFLEXOLOGY LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE (RLD)

RLD is an award-winning reflexology technique focusing on stimulating the lymphatic reflexes in the feet.
Developed by a reflexologist called Sally Kay, whilst working in cancer care and lymphoedema, the aim of RLD is to influence the lymphatic system.

RLD is also helpful to treat the following conditions

Arthritis
Asthma
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Fibromyalgia
Eczema
Headaches and Migraine
Premenstrual Tension
Sinus problems
General muscle tension, aches and pains.

REFLEXOLOGY IN CANCER AND PALLIATIVE CARE

This specialised form of treatment is an extra gentle touch therapy, suitable for clients with compromised health, particularly those who are living with a cancer diagnosis.
This calming, soothing therapy helps to support the immune system and can help alleviate some of the discomfort felt from the cancer and the side effects of chemotherapy and external radiation treatments.

MASSAGE

Massage can relieve stress and everyday anxiety by relieving muscle tension and joint stiffness.
It can promote better circulation and induce relaxation leading to a better sense of well-being.

REIKI

A Japanese form of energy healing, REIKI translates as ‘Universal Life Energy’ and the treatment encourages emotional and physical healing.

Recipients remain fully clothed and are made comfortable lying on a couch. The practitioner will place their hands on or near the recipient’s head, torso, knees, and feet, remaining in each position for a few minutes. The practitioner, through conscious intention, channels reiki energy through their hands to the recipient, positively charging their energy field.

A Reiki treatment can produce a wonderful glowing radiance, nurturing well-being by working directly on the whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

About Jane Ratcliffe

I have been involved in health and well-being for over 35 years, initially qualifying as a nurse within the NHS. During this time, I developed an interest in complementary health, often seeing positive results with my own young family.

In 1991, I trained in Reflexology at a time when few had heard of this healing modality. After qualifying I was invited to set up a reflexology service for guests in Aqua Sana at Center Parcs Holiday Village in Nottinghamshire. This continued for 10 years.

I undertook further training with Ann Gillanders, founder of the British School of Reflexology. With her brother Tony Porter (FAOR), Ann was trained directly by Dwight Byers, nephew of Eunice Ingham, who is known as ‘The mother of Reflexology’ in the form we know it today.

In the following years, I trained and qualified in Reiki and body massage.

Each year I undertake to go on courses and workshops to continue my professional development (see below).

The importance of giving clients the time and comfort they deserve to unwind and re-charge their batteries has become more and more apparent to me. I am passionate about helping clients to take ‘time out’ of their often busy and stressful lives.

I never tire of seeing tension melt away during our sessions.

I offer treatments in lovely rooms at ‘ADAM’S BUCKETFUL OF HOPE’ on Dew Street in Haverfordwest.

About Adam's Bucketful of Hope

A centre principally offering emotional support for patients and their carers. They distract patients from the daily anxiety of their illness by engaging them in exciting activities, trips, parties, delivering complementary therapies, beauty treatments, podiatry, and counselling to name but a few.. They set them challenges that take them out of their stressful situation and hopefully, by this distraction, ease their pain and fear.

The charity was started by a young man called Adam Evans-Thomas on being diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia 25 years ago. He started his fundraising for the NHS by recruiting blood and bone marrow donors for the Welsh Blood Service in Llantrisant. The Heath Hospital, in Cardiff has a high dependency room donated by Adam's Bucketful of Hope Appeal.

Just before he died at the age of 35, he wanted to "give back" to the wonderful Withybush hospital and staff who looked after him for the 10 short years of his illness by fundraising for a new Cancer Care Day Unit. This Unit, called the Pembrokeshire Haematology and Oncology Day Unit was completed in December 2017 and so Adam's Legacy was fulfilled.

However, his family and friends have continued to fundraise in his name; The Cancer Support Venue was opened in 2009 offering all the services and distractions mentioned above. The patients attending this unit over the last 10 years have repeatedly remarked that they do not wish to be referred to as victims, patients or survivors etc.. and because they donned their t-shirts to fight for their local hospital Unit in these dire times and won!! – the term Buckateers was coined as they saw themselves as Buccaneers! – fighting in the war against Cancer!

The Venue is a wonderful, homely, Community Centre where their Buckateers can arm themselves with the ammunition and weapons they need to fight Cancer ................ comradeship, warmth, laughter, support, tea, cakes, gossip, care and love!
