Video Summary

Mrs H had breast reconstruction in 2009, using tissue from her abdomen. The main problems on on initial visit were a pulling sensation in the arm, a restriction of shoulder motion, and discomfort when sitting down due to significant abdominal tightness. She ensured some lymphatic problems. Normal manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) was the first line of treatment until no more progress could be made.

Deep Oscillation is a therapy method that Katrin was happy to include in Mrs. H's treatment plan because it is already utlilised in the clinic where she works to good effect.

Katrin remarked 'With this type of breast reconstruction, often there are complications and adhesions, which we can treat well with deep oscillation. I have the Deep Oscillation Personal Pro from Physiomed and I simply take it from booth to booth or with me on home visits.

DEEP OSCILLATION Application:

Applicators: Therapist to Patient

Two applicators at the same time. 'making circular movements for more targeted use of the therapy'

Vinyl Gloves: Therapist to Patient

Working over a large area, allowing good contact surface.

"The gloved hand method feels very comfortable to the patient, and in this way, you can adapt well to the abdominal wall and the structures of the arm. The direction of movement/pressure is always towards the fingertips and on the downwards/return movement, we release the pressure using a little circular movement, working though the entire arm'

Patient Self Treatment with Applicator

Katrin also shows the patient how to use the applicator for self-treatment and how they can do it easily at home with their own unit. 'The fact that patients can use Deep Oscillation at home or on holiday is a great advantage'

NB. Full lymphatic clearing was carried out before treatment commencement.

Patient Feedback

“I always say, it vibrates on the inside of the stomach, it’s different and afterwards, it feels looser. I am satisfied with the whole treatment: my breast cancer treatment, my stomach and my arm, so I feel very, very good”

Therapist Conclusion

“With Deep Oscillation, we provide an effective treatment in a shorter period of time, we reduced the pulling pain in the arm, reduced the tension in the stomach, which could also be seen and felt. Since then the patient has returned to me for treatment on average once a week to maintain the condition.

For me, Deep Oscillation is a major part of my treatment, I just can’t imagine working without it. It just massively increases the effectiveness of the individual treatments"

WHAT IS DEEP OSCILLATION®?

image of deep oscillation used via gloves, via applicator and an image of the impact of deep oscillation permeating an 8cm tissue depth

DEEP OSCILLATION® is an internationally patented, clinically proven technology based on the effects of creating an electrostatic field in the tissue of the patient. Easy application is from therapist to patient/client via hygienic, vinyl-gloved hands; utilizing all normal massage movements or via circular movements over the tissue with a handheld applicator. The handheld applicator/s also enable self-treatment.

The special structure of DEEP OSCILLATION® allows the creation of biologically effective oscillations in the treated tissue using electrostatic attraction and friction. In contrast to other therapies, these pleasant oscillations have a gentle and deep-acting effect on all tissue components to an 8 cm depth (through the skin, connective tissue, subcutaneous fat, muscles, blood and lymph vessels).

Because of the non-invasive, non-traumatic, gentle nature of this therapy, very early possibilities of application are possible following injury and from Day One postoperatively. Chronic conditions can also be worked upon with effective results.
