Clinical Therapy Advisor for Lipoedema UK
Personal Profile
Clare Anvar has been a clinical massage and manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) therapist since 2004. She specialises in various types of chronic pain, post-surgery recovery, and lymphatic system disorders. Clare is skilled, empathic, and committed to delivering exemplary care for her patients, who are her inspiration, tutors, and guides. Clare works closely with consultants and surgeons to expedite recovery and stabilise chronic conditions. With extensive experience in complex cases arising from various short and long-term surgical recoveries, including oncology, orthopaedics, reconstructive, and cosmetic procedures, Clare collaborates with all UK insurance companies.
Clare has consistently studied and worked in diverse clinical environments alongside her private practice. From 2004 to 2008, Clare provided therapies for an HIV charity, where she became a trustee responsible for formulating and delivering HIV awareness training, all while studying for a foundation degree in Complementary Approaches to Health at Thames Valley University. Clare also contributed her expertise to a local cancer charity, providing manual lymphatic drainage and complementary therapies. From 2008 to 2011, she served as a complementary therapist in Cancer Services at University College London Hospital (UCLH), pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Health Sciences, focusing on remedial massage and neuromuscular therapy at Westminster University. Following this, Clare completed an MSc in complementary medicine at Westminster University in 2015 while working as a clinical massage therapist for Horder Healthcare, which specialises in orthopaedic surgeries.
In 2015, Clare presented a poster on her dissertation regarding lymphoedema management at the British Lymphology Society (BLS) conference, which honed her focus on lymphoedema and lipoedema. She has continued to pursue advanced training in lymphoedema management and various types of MLD. In recent years, Clare has developed and taught a kinesiology taping method to hasten post-surgical recovery. Clare currently works part-time at the clinic of two eminent cosmetic, reconstructive, and plastic surgeons, Mr. Marc Pacifico and Ms. Nora Nugent, caring for post-surgical patients. Clare also authors academic articles and book chapters and presents at international conferences about her work. More recently, in January 2023, Clare was appointed the Clinical Therapy Advisor to Lipoedema UK and became a member of the expert panel for Lymphoedema United in January 2024.
