  • Barnsley Hospice is a charity that provides specialist palliative care and support to hundreds of local people and their families each year. Their main priority is to achieve the best possible quality of life for patients with a life limiting illness, whilst supporting their families, during the period of illness and bereavement. As a specialist care provider, the range of skills they offer include, pain and symptom management, emotional support and end of life care

Lymphoedema Service:

 

Barnsley Hospice offers treatment for patients suffering from cancer and non-cancer related oedema. The service is also available to those who have had cancer in the past. There are three Lymphoedema Practitioners who can see patients in their home, hospital or the clinic based at the hospice. Individual plans are created to include some of the following:

  • Skin care
  • Exercise
  • Massage
  • Compression

DEEP OSCILLATION® is used, where appropriate, for the treatment and maintenance of Lymphoedema.

The key element of this service is to enable patients to be successful in managing lymphoedema on a day-to-day basis.
