Treatments:

Initial Consultation

"Prior to initial consultation Victoria requires a consent form to be signed by a veterinary surgeon. A detailed record sheet including a discussion of the horse's history and current problems will be completed. Gait analysis and a conformation check will be performed. Observations of saddle fit, dental condition and farriery will be noted and it may be necessary to see the horse walk and trot in a circle, depending on the presenting problems. The horse will then be given a complete Equine Sports Massage treatment and passive stretches. Problem areas will be identified and treated and aftercare advice and exercises will be advised which will be tailored to the horse's needs. Follow-up treatments may be necessary depending on the problems highlighted during the massage.

Follow-up/Maintenance Consultation

After feedback from the owner is noted from previous treatments, a gait analysis check will be performed. The horse will then be given a complete Equine Sports Massage treatment and passive stretches with aftercare advice. By continuing the program of maintenance treatments, muscular issues can be noted and addressed quickly before further problems occur.

Pre-Event Massage

This can be performed up to within 10 minutes of an event and helps to warm and loosen the muscles in preparation for an event, increasing performance, assisting the horse to focus and helping to reduce the likelihood of sustaining injuries. This treatment is suitable for existing clients only.

Post-Event Massage

This treatment is best performed 2 - 4 hours after the event. Massage increases venous blood return and lymphatic drainage decreasing recovery time, aiding removal of toxins from the body, relieving muscle pain and spasm and reducing stiffness and muscle fatigue. Massage can help to remedy small sustained issues before they become big problems. This treatment is suitable for existing clients only.

DEEP OSCILLATION®

In addition to manual therapy, DEEP OSCILLATION® is offered as another treatment when required. DEEP OSCILLATION® can be used for:

  • Arthritis
  • Haematoma/Bruising
  • Ligament damage
  • Muscle fibre rupture
  • Oedema (lymph)
  • Rheumatism
  • Scar Tissue & Fibrosis
  • Sprains/Strains

For traumatic injuries and damage from overstraining, DEEP OSCILLATION® has an anti-inflammatory and oedema-reducing effect. Areas relieved of pain are stimulated into self-mobilization and thus an earlier return to active forms of therapy and training are enabled. Suitability for treatment will be assed and problem areas treated.
