"I had breast surgery in 2011. I noticed in 2012 that I had swelling of my left arm.

The hospital referred me to a physiotherapist who provided me with a compression sleeve. I wasn’t happy with such little support so I sought a private lymphoedema therapist.

This therapist was using the Deep Oscillation system and after some time she recommended that I should consider a personal machine as she felt it would help me manage the condition myself for the most part.

I invested in a personal machine and after advice and support from my therapist it has become an extension of me.

What I found particularly useful was that a family member came to some of my therapy sessions in the beginning and now often applies the therapy on me; this is very beneficial and relaxing and makes the problem lighter for me.

However with life for everybody being busy I often do the therapy on myself, it takes just takes a half an hour, time well spent. I also find swimming very helpful. I would say a mixed approach makes a life-time problem lighter. I still attend the therapist every 6-8 weeks. Very often she finds that the Lymphoedema is stable and often improved, she can then spend the session dealing with any other niggly problem that may have arisen.

I take machine with me on holidays at home and abroad wouldn’t be without it. I have never had any difficultly with security at the airport."

ABOUT DEEP OSCILLATION®

                                              layers

As opposed to externally applied, mechanical forms of massage therapy (e.g. vibration), DEEP OSCILLATION® is applied with gloved hands and/or special applicators, creating biologically effective oscillations in the tissue segment undergoing treatment. Applied with gentle, minimal pressure, the therapy works through the entire tissue layers (including the connective tissue to a depth of 8cm) reaching the core of the affected area.

DEEP OSCILLATION® is a non-invasive, non-traumatic treatment, which is well received by patients from children to the elderly. Because of it’s gentle application it is a unique treatment for acute and chronic injury, and day one post-operative. Clinically proven effects include: significant pain reduction, anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, detoxification, oedema reduction and haematoma reduction with enhancement of nutrients returning to the tissue to promote the natural healing process. It is regularly used in treatment of pain and inflammation in Lipoedema, it helps to improve mobility and promote a feeling of ‘lighter limbs’.

NB . The DEEP OSCILLATION® Personal is only supplied to Lymphoedema sufferers on a consultative basis; treatment must first have been sought with a qualified MLD DLT Lymphoedema Practitioner listed on the Therapist Map.  A tailored programme is created on a therapy card inserted into the unit for the individual as well as the standard Sports and/or Aesthetics card  which it is supplied with.
